Chopsticks made in Japan
This very nice set of two pairs of chopsticks is presented with a pretty wooden box. Note the shiny variations on the top over the black and red backgrounds.
Meotobashi items are usually offered to couples. The red pair is for the woman and the black one which is slightly longer for the man.
Japanese urushi lacquer is made from the sap of the urushi tree, a tradition dating back to the Jomon period (6000BC).
Laquered objects (Shikki) are sensitive to a direct exposure to sunlight. These products cannot be used in microwaves and cannot be washed in dishwasher. Urushi products should be quickly dried after washing.
