Size: around 3.5 cm (height) x 2.3 cm (width) x 2 cm (thickness) (1.37 in x 0.9 in x 0.78 in)
Made in Aizu, Japan.
The small size of these Okiagari-Koboushi makes it difficult to guarantee that they will return to their base every time (see video below)
Okiagari-koboushi (getting-up little priest) are traditional dolls made with papier-mâché and designed like a roly-poly toy. Like Daruma dolls, they are linked to the japanese proverb "Nanakoribi Yaoki" which means: 7 times down, 8 times up. Thereby they are a symbol of perseverance and resilience ! In the region of Aizu, where they are mad, the tradition is to buy every year one little Okiagari Koboshi per family member, plus one if you hope it will grow.
Manufactured in Aizu in the Fukushima region, this purchase will contribute to the reconstruction of damaged areas.
