This daruma pays tribute to the great samurai Naoe Kanetsugu 直江 兼続, the legendary strategist of the Uesugi clan from the ancient province of Echigo (now Niigata Prefecture). This exceptional samurai, recognizable by his helmet adorned with the kanji ‘愛’ (love), revolutionized the art of war through his rare humanist philosophy.

This golden Daruma respects the shapes and colours of this famous Japanese lucky charm, the golden model is intended to bring wealth to its owner.

As tradition dictates, it has no pupils: you'll need to draw its left pupil once you've set a goal for it (family, love, work, studies, etc.). His single eye will remind his owner of his goal every day.
Once the goal has been reached, you can draw its second eye, making it a lovely souvenir, or even a trophy!

The 2 Japanese characters ‘福入 fuku-iri’ inscribed on its belly mean happiness or blessing.
