Made in Japan
This retro phone is a Japanese public telephone from the Shōwa era, often installed in shops and restaurants. Even today, you can still find them in use in small neighborhood restaurants (see photo).
They are generally recognizable by their colorful casing, here in a rare vibrant red, their old-fashioned rotary dial, and their coin slot marked "10円" (円 = yen).
More than just a decorative piece, this phone is a witness to a time many Japanese feel nostalgic for: the booming years of the 1960s to 1980s when these phones were a part of everyday life.
The coin slot can also be used as a piggy bank if desired (maybe to save up for your next trip to Japan?). It will fit perfectly in a vintage-themed interior or in a collection of Japanese items.
An original gift for lovers of Japanese culture, retro design, or unique display pieces.
